Our Top 10 Tips for a Healthy Student Lifestyle

Our Top 10 Tips for a Healthy Student Lifestyle
September 8, 2021 info@gymproject.co.uk

Falmouth offers a huge amount for any student interested in an active lifestyle. Beautiful local beaches, stunning coastal walks, and amazing surf spots are just a short drive away.

Below are our top ten tips to make the most out of living in Falmouth during your studies.

1. Walk and Coffee

Looking to stretch your legs? Head to Pendennis Point for a coffee at the outdoor Wesup Coffee box. Once sufficiently caffeinated, head up the hill to the castle. A short walk around the moat is a great way to burn the caffeine off and some awesome views of the Fal Estuary.

2. Paddleboard

Always wanted to try paddleboarding? Rent a paddleboard and set off from the Greenbank to explore the Fal estuary, finishing with a well-earned pint at the Working Boat! Members of GP can rent paddleboards for just £5 an hour.

3. Stretch

Feeling like you’ve been sitting down at your desk all day? Jump into a Yoga or Stretch class at GP. Not only will this keep the body supple but is a great way to unwind after a long day at the books. Classes run multiple times a week and all classes are included in a membership!

4. Swim

Feeling Adventurous? Get an early night and make your way down to Swanpool Beach for a sunrise sea swim. A good rule of thumb is to stay in a minute for every degree of sea temperature. Normally around 16 degrees/minutes in September. No better way to set you up for your day, just make sure you have a hot drink waiting for when you dry off.

5. Skate

Always wanted to give skateboarding a go? Inspired by Sky Brown killing it at the Olympics?  Make your way to Sessions Surf and Skate Shop to kit yourself out with a board and head for a cruise down the front. A perfect way to finish a sunny September day!

6.  Run

Looking for a new running route? Swap the road for the trails and set off from Maenporth following the cliff pass to Trebah Beach. This 8-mile run will provide all the views. If you’re needing to update your shoes for the trails, check out Whirlwind Sports.

7. Beach Clean

Looking for a new way to keep active? Why not head out for a beach clean with your mates. Choose a local beach and make a positive impact. Awesome for the environment and a great way to get outside into nature.  Check out Surfers against Sewage for more info. Bonus, Finisterre is currently handing out beach clean bags with every purchase.

8. Surf

Ever tried surfing? Take advantage of all the amazing surf spots on your doorstep.  The best way to gain confidence in the water is with a lesson. As part of membership at GP, you can receive surf lessons for just £5 and free board hire!

9. Refuel

Looking for a place to get some healthy food after an active morning?  Head on down to Nude Canteen, guaranteed to feel you with lots of fresh veggies and the best Poke bowls in town.

10. Balance

A healthy lifestyle is all about balance, if you’ve ticked off one or two of the above make sure you treat yourself. Our favorite treat, takeaway Harbour Lights fish and chips watching the sunset at Pendennis Point

Gym Project offers a range of student memberships options: Monthly – £35 a month, 3 monthly – £100 (upfront payment), 6 Monthly – £190 (upfront payment).
